TTPS Application Assistance: Category Check And Evidence Preparation

The Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) offers fast processing and requires no prior job offer — a direct route to Hong Kong for high earners and graduates of top-100 universities. Huanchen checks category eligibility and organises income or degree evidence to the required standard.

OVERVIEW

Eligibility across the three categories

TTPS is divided into three objective categories based on income or education.

  • Category A: annual income of HKD 2.5 million or above in the year preceding the application — no degree requirement and no quota
  • Category B: a bachelor’s degree from a top-100 university plus at least three years of work experience in the past five years — no quota
  • Category C: a bachelor’s degree from a top-100 university with less than three years of work experience — subject to an annual quota allocated on a first-come, first-served basis
  • None of the categories requires a prior Hong Kong job offer; initial stay is generally two years, extendable according to development in Hong Kong
  • Processing is fast — the Immigration Department targets about four weeks
KEY POINTS

What to know before applying

The thresholds are objective, yet non-compliant evidence remains a common cause of further-document requests.

  • Category A income means assessable employment or business income, including salary, allowances, stock options and company profits, evidenced by official documents such as tax assessments or audited reports
  • Personal investment income does not count towards the Category A threshold
  • The top-100 university list is compiled by the Immigration Department from designated rankings and updated periodically — always check the current list before applying
  • Categories B and C recognise the bachelor’s degree only; a master’s or doctoral degree cannot substitute for it
  • The Category C quota is allocated by filing time on a first-come, first-served basis; once the year’s quota is used up, applicants wait for the next year
  • The application may include a spouse and unmarried dependent children under 18

The composition of income is matched to supporting documents, or the degree-to-experience timeline is reconciled.

  3. 03

    Preparation and filing

Tax assessments, degree certificates and employment proofs are prepared against the official checklist and filed online.

  4. 04

    Follow-up and landing

Processing and further documents are followed up, and upon approval the visa activation and subsequent arrangements are coordinated.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which universities count as top 100?

The Immigration Department compiles the list from designated international rankings and updates it periodically; universities from the mainland, Hong Kong and overseas are included. Your alma mater should be checked against the latest list before applying — Huanchen can confirm it for you.

How is the HKD 2.5 million income evidenced?

Through official documents: salaries or personal income tax assessments, audited company financial statements and bank records. Income must be attributable to the full year preceding the application; hastily assembled bank flows carry little weight.

How should I handle the Category C quota?

Category C runs on an annual, first-come-first-served quota. Recent top-100 graduates should prepare degree and employment evidence early and file early in the quota year; once the quota is exhausted, the only option is the following year.
